1960 Lamborghini DL20 2241R Tractor

Well before the first Lamborghini automobile came stampeding onto the scene, Ferruccio Lamborghini had already built an empire in tractors. After serving as a mechanic in the Riga Aeronautica during WWII, Ferruccio opened a small repair shop near Modena and began manufacturing tractors using surplus military hardware. His company, Lamborghini Trattori SpA, became one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers by the mid-1950s.

The DL20 2241R model became the favorite among consumers — and among Ferruccio himself. So much so that when he passed away in 1993, it was a DL20 2241R Tractor that pulled his coffin to his final resting place. This delightful 1960 DL20 2241R is powered by an 18-horsepower twin-cylinder engine, believed to be original to this unit.

Restored between 2017 and 2018, it was brought back to its former glory and painted in its iconic colors of orange and blue with the Lamborghini name proudly placed on the sides of the hood. Rarely seen in the United States, these tractors — often referred to as 'Lamborghinettas' — serve to remind us of the humble beginnings of Ferruccio and what was there before his automotive empire took the supercar class by storm.
