Rivalled only by Lincoln since the 1950s after the demise of Packard, Cadillac has maintained its uninterrupted reputation for building fine cars since 1903. The facelifted 1960 models featured less-pronounced tailfins and the elimination of the dated bullet-style front bumper guards, with ample power delivered by Cadillac's proprietary 389 cid V-8 engine producing 325 horsepower, matched to a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
