1955 Mercury Montclair Sun Valley

Deployed under the direction of Edsel Ford in 1939, Mercury was positioned between Ford and Lincoln. When Mercury entered the 1950s, they were riding the high of having their most successful year yet. The 1955 redesign introduced the Montclair as the top model, and the Sun Valley was offered for just two years — with a mere 1,787 examples produced compared to 10,668 Montclair convertibles and over half a million Mercurys total.

Today fewer than 200 are believed to survive. This Sun Valley received a lovely body-off-the-frame restoration and is finished in an elegant shade of medium yellow with a black and cream two-tone interior. The feature that truly sets it apart is its large tinted Plexiglas acrylic-glass roof, which bathes the entire front seat with natural light — a feature very uncommon in its day.

Also styled with factory fender skirts and a continental kit, original Ford script safety glass windows, power steering, and power brakes. Recognized by the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA).
